Major Distractions

I had to do some work from home this weekend so I took advantage of Lincoln's naptime on Sunday afternoon to sneak into his room/our office and get some editing done.  But, seriously, how is anyone supposed to get any work done when this cutie wakes up from his nap so happy and ready to play?!

Weekend Warriors

This past weekend, Lincoln and I headed up to Baudette for Lacy Holen's wedding (now Lacy Pinder!)  We picked up Briana Sardina and her boyfriend, Chris, from the airport on Thursday afternoon and headed up north.  This was our first trip without daddy so it was a little different, but we had a great time!

When we were up a few weeks ago, Lincoln (or maybe Lincoln's mommy) forgot Larry the Cucumber at Grandma's house!  So when we got up there on Thursday night we found Larry all tucked in in his crib.  I wish I could have gotten Lincoln's face on video.  It was priceless.  He looked at Larry, looked at me, back at Larry and then just started giggling!!  He was so happy to see his friend again!

We made sure to stop and visit both of Lincoln's great-grandmas.  At great-grandma Rose's house Lincoln found a box of toys that all of us grandkids used to play with.  It was fun to watch him explore and play with all those "old" toys.  He was kind of confused at first with this phone.  I think he was looking for the apps.  :)

Saturday morning we woke up to this gorgeous sunrise.  The picture doesn't do it justice, but it looked like a fire in the sky!

Saturday afternoon was the wedding so we had to get all dressed up.  Look at those sharp-dressed guys!  Two of my favorites!

Britta and Lincoln!  Britta is never far behind Lincoln - she just loves him to pieces.  In fact, she usually likes to be right on top of him.  A few times she just sat right on him when he was playing on the floor!  It's cute because she really does just love him so much she doesn't want him far away from her.  At one point she reached in for a kiss.  I tried to grab my phone to get a picture because Lincoln was kissing her back.  Then all of a sudden Britta started to cry.  Lincoln bit her lips!  I couldn't help but laugh.  Gotta watch out for those teeth - they're sharp!

Lincoln loved sitting with Grandpa Sunday morning at church - he even raised his hand to say a verse and then laughed when Derek called on him!

Checking out the traffic flying by the chapel.

I was a little nervous driving back to the cities on Sunday afternoon because it was just the two of us - Briana and Chris stayed up north an extra day.  Lincoln and I have never traveled alone.  But he did GREAT!  I think he's going to be a great road-tripper.  He slept the first two-and-a-half hours.  Then we stopped, changed him, played for a few minutes in the back seat, got back in the car seat with a bottle.  He was awake for about an hour-and-a-half just babbling and playing in his car seat and then slept the rest of the way home!  It couldn't have gone better!  I thought he might not sleep well that night since he had slept so much in the car, but he did!  What a trooper!

Such a fun and relaxing weekend to just hang out with grandpa and grandma!  Now we just can't wait for the weather to finally warm up so we can play outside every day!

Nine Months

Mr. Lincoln turned nine months old yesterday!  Still seems crazy to me how close we're getting to that one-year mark, but we've been having a blast and enjoying every moment in the meantime!

I had to post some of our out-takes from his little photo shoot this morning.  It takes two of us now to be able to capture these pictures because he's pretty squirmy.  Long gone are the days when I can just lay him on the couch and have him sit still!  Can you tell daddy is behind me making faces and playing peek-a-boo?!  Lincoln definitely loves his daddy and thinks all his noises and faces are pretty funny.

Once again, for his nine-month birthday, he grew two more teeth!  He now has a total of six showing, and I do believe there are two more on bottom that are close to the surface ready to break through.  He wears an amber teething necklace that has been amazing.  He has not drooled at all throughout this process.  It doesn't take the pain of it away, unfortunately.  The top teeth have been extremely painful for the poor little guy.  And unfortunately for me (and him), they really seem to bother him at night.  So we haven't had a full-night's sleep in about a month.  But the good news is he seems to be growing them fast, so hopefully this process will be over before we know it!

Lincoln has also developed into a bit of a momma's boy lately, which is flattering and extremely frustrating at the same time.  But he's still a complete joy to be around and has a great laugh and smile for pretty much anyone!  He just prefers mommy to be holding him!

And one of his new tricks that is super cute is he can cluck his tongue.  I don't know what else to call it.  I guess I must have done it  lot to him, and the past couple months he would always watch me intensely when I would click my tongue.  And now he does it too!  It's pretty cute!

Eight Months

Look who is eight months old already!  Can't believe how fast this year is going.  And, yes, I know it's only going to get worse!

Lincoln is definitely keeping us busy and on our toes these days.  He's crawling all over the place and standing up on everything he can hold on to.  It's fun to watch him explore his new-found world.  The other day he was crawling in the kitchen and tried opening the cupboard door.  I was holding the top of it shut because it was where I keep some of our cleaning products.  Well, he just KNEW it should open.  So he tried a couple times with his left hand, then he scooted over to get a better grip on it with his right hand.  Then he got up on his knees to really get a strong grip on it to get it open.  Finally he pulled himself up to standing so he could really get at it.  But that's when mommy stepped in and scooped him up!  He sure is persistent though!  (maybe stubborn?!)

For his eight-month birthday, he grew another tooth!  It's been a rough go-around this time - the bottom two feel like a breeze compared to these top teeth, and he seems to be growing them two at a time.  Only one of his top teeth has poked through so far, but the other one is right there.  He's been in a lot of pain, plus fighting a nasty cold.  But he's such a trooper and is still as happy as ever!  So thankful to the Lord for this amazing and precious gift!

Forward Progress

Lincoln is officially on the move!  He took his first crawling steps a two weekends ago when we were up north and since then has mastered the art and is gaining speed!  And he is loving his new freedom and mode of transportation - he's into everything!!!  He's also been pulling himself up on everything!  Oh my - this boy is going to keep me busy, that's for sure.

Christmas Recap

You might have started to notice a trend here?  It usually takes at least a month to post about the latest event!  Oh well, I do my best!

We had a great week up north over Christmas, and as always it went way too fast.  But here's some highlights from the week.

It was fun to see Britta and Lincoln interact so much more.  They played nicely together, and would babble back and forth in their own language.  So cute.  I can't wait until they're running around together.....or maybe I can wait!  They might be double trouble!!

And then there's grandpa!  He loves to sit by Lincoln during mealtime and any time there's food around so he feed him all sorts of new things........even OYSTER STEW!!  And he liked it!  But at this point he likes pretty much anything he can put in his mouth.  So we'll have to wait and see if he's one of the few that actually enjoy that gross Block Christmas tradition!

Christmas Eve we enjoyed the big family gathering at Rex and Julie's this year and then a nice time back at mom and dad's opening gifts as a family.  We even got Jordan on Skype through the TV.  It was fun to have him "be there" with us to open gifts and just to talk.  I thought the second picture of us with him looked like Lincoln was giving him a high five.  The TV is kind of bright so it's hard to see Jordan's hand.

Lincoln enjoyed opening presents too!  Mostly he loved eating all the pretty wrapping paper.  I'm not sure why they haven't come out with flavored wrapping paper yet - I'm sure it would be a big hit!  He got lots of fun toys and cute clothes!

Hal and I took Jace in to Willie Walleye hill to go sledding one night.  I wasn't really looking forward to it as the warm house and couch just seemed a lot more comfy.  But I went.  And had a blast!!  It was so much fun - I can't wait to be able to get Lincoln out there with us!!

Speaking of that little guy, he turned six months old on Christmas Day!  I can't believe how fast the time is flying, and now we're only a week away from seven months! You can see he's sitting up completely on his own now and really moving around.  He's not technically crawling yet, but he can definitely get from one side of the room to the other by rolling and scooting and however else he can move himself without getting on his hands and knees!  It's fun to see all the new changes!  Oh, and he got his first TWO teeth a couple days before Christmas - his two bottom teeth.  I have yet to get a good picture of them, but they're pretty darn cute!  It seemed like a long time coming, but they finally pushed through!

And, of course, we got a little ice fishing in while we were there too!  Hal and I went out with dad one day, and then the entire family went out all day Saturday.  It was about 30 below and extremely windy that day.  Hal and I must have picked the short straw because we were given the drafty fish house.  So Lincoln and I only lasted about an hour and then it just got too cold for him.  The heater just wasn't able to push out enough heat to keep him warm enough.  He slept for the first half hour though so I was able to pull up four fish in that time, then had to leave so everyone else could catch up to me!

We always have so much fun at home with the family, and it was nice to be able to spend the entre week up north.  We're even heading back up this weekend to meet Lincoln's new cousin, Mandi!!
